Seven Vikings receive all-conference honors

Seven Augustana players were named to the Midwest Lacrosse Conference all-conference team for 2013, it was announced today. Sophomore midfielder Jesse Nagelberg was the lone Viking named to the first team. Picking up second team honors were sophomore goalie Cody Burgdorff, junior defenseman Zack McGinnis, and sophomore short stick defender Evan Chikeles.

Vikings fall at Carthage in MLC Semifinals

Augustana rallied from a five-goal first-half deficit to get within one after three quarters Wednesday, but eventually fell 12-8 to Carthage in the semifinals of the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Tournament. Coach Kyle Hart's Vikings finish the season with an 11-6 record. The Red Men improve to 15-3 and advance to Saturday's title game at Aurora.

Burgdorff honored as "Player of the Week"

Augustana sophomore Cody Burgdorff (Peak to Peak HS, Lafayette, Co.) has been named the "Player of the Week" in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference. The goalie finished with a total of 27 saves on just 10 goals scored against him as the Vikings rallied off three victories in a row against Elmhurst, Benedictine, and Concordia-Wisconsin.

Vikings lock up third place in MLC

Freshman Kevin Gleason had three goals and three assists Saturday to lead Augustana to a 9-6 win at Concordia. With the victory, Coach Kyle Hart's team locks up third place in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and a berth in the league's postseason tournament. The Vikings improved to 11-5 overall and 8-2 in the conference, while the host Falcons fell to 9-7 and 6-4 in the MLC.

Vikings pick up road win at Benedictine

Sophomores Tim Fennelly and Jesse Nagelberg each scored four goals Wednesday to lead Augustana to a 16-6 men's lacrosse win at Benedictine. The Vikings improve to 10-5 overall and 7-2 in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference and are in sole possession of third place in the league with one game to play. The Eagles fall to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in the conference.
