2010 Season - Assistant Coaches
Laurence Thomson is currently enjoying the third season of his second stint as an assistant coach at Augustana. He previously helped assist Scott Mejia with both the men and women's teams for three seasons from 2004 through 2006. A 2002 graduate of Marycrest International University, Thomson has been very active in soccer programs throughout the Quad Cities.
He served as the head boys coach at Alleman High School in Rock Island from 2003 until 2006 and he has also been the head men's coach for the Quad Cities United club team. He was the head boys coach at Davenport North High School during the 2002-03 season and has been the camp director of the British Bulldog Academy/Three Lions Camp in Geneseo, Illinois since 2003.
Thompson is the senior manager of the Rock Island Auction Company, a job he has held since 2000. He holds a United States Soccer Federation "D" License and an English FA Junior License. He also has Illinois and Iowa state certification.
He enjoyed a fine playing career in England with various club teams. He served as the team captain and was Most Valuable Player at the Tottenham Youth Football Club in London and he also played for England's National School Boys Team.
Brad Becker will be in his second year as the assistant coach for women's soccer at Augustana. He is in his fourth season as an assistant coach in the men's program. Becker, a four year letterwinner for the Vikings, graduated from Augustana in 2007. He served as team captain in 2006 and finished his career ranked seventh on the school's all-time list of goal scorers with 38. He also totaled 14 assists and finished with 90 total points, which is seventh on the Vikings career list.
He enjoyed his highest goal scoring year as a freshman in 2002 when he racked up 18 goals and three assists for 39 total points. He was a second team all-conference performer as a freshman.
Becker graduated from Augustana with a bachelor's degree in business administration and a minor in political science. He is currently employed as a transportation sales representative at CH Robinson Worldwide.
A native of Naperville, Illinois where he was a standout performer at Naperville North High School, Becker received his class "C" coaching license.
