2009-2010 Season - Women tied for fourth after first day

Senior Caitlin Quinn placed third in the pole vault in the first day of competition at the CCIW meet with a clearance of 10' 4".

WHEATON, Illinois - After the first day of competition in the 2010 College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin meet, the Augustana women's team is in fourth place. The Vikings had five place winners and totaled 25 points heading into Saturday's final round of competition at Wheaton College.

North Central leads with 81.5 points while Illinois Wesleyan is second with 59 and Carthage is third with 29.5. Augustana is tied with Wheaton for fourth place with 25 points and Millikin is sixth iwth 12. North Park and Elmhurst are both tied for seventh with one point.

Seniors Caitlin Quinn (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) and Libby Geison (Bloomington HS, Bloomington, Ill.) were the highest individual finishers for Fred Whiteside's Vikings. They finished in a tie for third place in the pole vault as each cleared 10' 4".

Sophomore Amanda Gruber (Rolling Meadows HS, Arlington Heights, Ill.) was fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 131' 7" and freshman Annie Heifner (Oregon HS, Oregon, Wis.) took fourth in the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:46.54. Junior Ella Mathieson (Lyons Township HS, LaGrange, Ill.) placed fifth in the long jump with a leap of 17' 1 1/4".
