2010 Season - Rain claims first day of CCIW Softball

KENOSHA, Wisconsin - Rain has claimed the first day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Softball Tournament in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The decision has been made early to wipe out the first day of the tournament and resume with the regular schedule on Saturday, May 8 at Carthage College.
Augustana, currently 28-11 overall and 8-6 in the CCIW, is the fourth seed in the tournament. The Vikings will play regular-season champion and number one seeded Carthage at 12:00 noon on Saturday, May 8. The Lady Reds, ranked 16th in the latest NCAA Division III national poll, are 24-11 overall and 10-4 in league play.
The first game on Saturday will be between #2 seeded Illinois Wesleyan (26-13, 9-5) and #3 seeded North Central (30-10, 9-5) at 10:00 a.m. The losers of the first two games will play at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday while the winners will hook up at 4:00 p.m.
Action will resume on Sunday with the original Saturday schedule. There will be a semifinal game at 10:00 a.m. and the championship round will be at 12:00 noon. The winner of the tournament will receive the CCIW's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III national tournament.
Augustana has won the CCIW Tournament three times (2004, 2006 and 2007).
