2009-2010 Season - Richardson named CCIW "Player of the Week"

Jenna Richardson, who has 124 career victories, picked up "Player of the Week" honors for the second time.

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Senior Jenna Richardson (Melrose Park Walther Lutheran HS, Bellwood, Ill.) was named the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin “Player of the Week” for women’s tennis, it was announced today.

Richardson was 4-0 this past weekend, notching a pair of wins at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. She teamed with senior Tricia Crawford (Decorah HS, Decorah, Iowa) for an (8-3) victory over Alejandra Ruales and Clare Tuchscherer of Loras. The duo later defeated Edgewood’s Amber Hemp and Shae Beckwith (8-1). Richardson beat Ruales (6-2, 6-2) and also rallied to defeat Kelsey Steinhorst of Edgewood (2-6, 6-4, (10-4)).

Richardson is 15-17 this season, including a 14-13 mark at No. 1 singles in dual matches. She has 67 career singles victories, placing her in a tie for sixth on the all-time wins list. Richardson also sports an incredible mark of 13-2 in third set super tie-breakers and 1-0 in full third set matches. For her career, she is 67-52 overall in singles play. Richardson is 39-32 at No. 1, 12-7 at No. 2, 12-8 at No. 3, 2-0 at No. 6, and 2-5 in tournament play.

She has also teamed with fellow senior Tricia Crawford (Decorah HS, Decorah, Iowa) for a 15-16 record, including a 14-12 mark at No. 1 doubles in dual matches. Richardson and Crawford have 24 doubles wins together, which is ninth on the all-time list. Richardson has a 57-49 overall mark in doubles. She is 23-18 at No. 1, 28-24 at No. 2, 6-5 at No. 3, and 0-2 in tournament play.

This is the second time that Richardson has won the award. She was also honored as CCIW “Player of the Week” on September 25, 2007 during the fall of her sophomore season. Richardson is a three-time selection to the CCIW All-Conference team. She made the squad as a sophomore, junior, and senior. This past fall, she placed fourth in the No. 1 singles flight. As a freshman, she placed third in the No. 3 and No. 3 doubles flights. In her sophomore season, she was fourth in the No. 2 singles flight and third in the No. 2 doubles flight. Richardson finished fourth in the No. 2 doubles flight as a junior.

She is the daughter of Ray and Beth Richardson of Bellwood, Illinois.
