2009-2010 Season - Men's Track & Field still 1st in NCAA Division III

With the CCIW conference meet just a couple weekends away, Augustana remains the number ranked team in the NCAA Division III dual meet rankings, it was announced today. Veteran head coach Paul Olsen's Vikings hold steady in the number one spot with 214.50 points while the rest of the teams in the top 10 have jostled amongst each other for position. Whitworth now finds themselves in second with 204.65 points while Augustana's fellow CCIW foe North Central has moved into third with 203.27. Midwest regional opponent Wisconsin-Oshkosh is fourth with 201.30 and Willamette is fifth with 199.73.

Augustana sent several relay teams to Des Moines, Iowa this past week to participate in the Drake Relays. The 1600 meter relay placed eighth at the Drake Relays with a time of 3:13.33, and the 800 meter relay set a new school record with a time of 1:27.72. The Vikings individual participants headed to Dubuque, Iowa to participate in the Loras Open where Darin Decker hit the NCAA qualifying mark in the hammer throw with a toss of 178' 5”.

With the CCIW conference meet only two weekends away, the Vikings will be traveling to Monmouth, Illinois for a tune-up in the Monmouth Quadrangular on Saturday, May 1 with events scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.

The power ranking is sponsored by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and it encompasses the top two performances by each team in every event.
