2010 Season - Hoffman named "Hitter of the Week" in the CCIW
Junior infielder Dave Hoffman (Cary Grove HS, Fox River Grove, Ill.) has been selected as “Hitter of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the week ending April 18. He tortured opposing pitchers last week in five games, batting a robust .519 with 14 hits and 27 at-bats.
Hoffman scored nine runs with five doubles, one home run and five runs-batted-in. He posted a slugging percentage of .815 with 22 total bases in 27 at-bats with three stolen bases. In four of the five games last week he had at least three hits.
He went three for six with three RBI, two doubles and a run scored in a 9-8 win over Illinois Wesleyan on Wednesday, April 14. In a double header sweep of Elmhurst on Saturday, April 17 by scores of 10-7 and 10-5, Hoffman had seven hits in 11 at-bats with five runs scored, two RBI, a double, a home run and two stolen bases. He followed that with a three for four performance with two runs scored, one double and on walk in a 12-8 loss to the Bluejays on Sunday, April 18.
This season Hoffman is leading the team in hitting with a .492 average. He has 58 hits in 118 at-bats with 30 runs scored, 11 doubles, two home runs with 27 RBI. He has walked 12 times and has three stolen bases.
So far during his Augustana career he holds a career batting average of .394 with 152 hits in 386 at-bats while scoring 94 runs. He has 30 doubles, one triple, seven home runs, 80 RBI, 51 base-on-balls and five stolen bases.
Hoffman is the son of Dave and Susan Hoffman of Fox River Grove, Illinois and he is a psychology major.
