2009-2010 Season - Vikings place 7th at Millikin Invite

DECATUR, Ill. – Sophomore Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) once again led the way for the Augustana women’s golf team, finishing in a tie for 10th place in a 63 player field at the Millikin Invitational this past weekend.  Carr shot a pair of 88’s to finish with a total score of 176 at the two day event held at the Hickory Point Golf Course in Decatur, Illinois.

The Vikings finished seventh out of 10 teams at the season ending tournament.  The Blue & Gold had a collective score of 383 on day one and followed with a 384 on day two, finishing with a score of 767.  Wheaton won the team title with a two day total of 699, followed closely by Indiana Tech (703) and John A. Logan Community College (706).  Lindenwood (718), Millikin (733), and Carthage (744) rounded out the top six teams in the field.  Augustana finished in front of Monmouth (814), Kaskaskia Community College (825), and Lincoln Community College (894).

Freshman Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) shot rounds of 96 and 98 to finish in 32nd with a score of 194.  Junior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) was close on her heels, tallying a 197 (98 + 99) to earn a tie for 34th place.  Senior Katy Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) scored an even 200 with rounds of 101 and 99, finishing 42nd overall.  Senior Liz Scarlata (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) completed the scoring for Augustana with a 220 (111 + 109).  She placed 52nd.
