Greetings from the Center for Teaching & Learning.
This week ACTL would like to invite you to a workshop put together by Women & Gender Studies
GENDER MATTERS
How can I (or why should I) think about gender?
this Friday in the Wilson Center. The session will start at 4:00 with refreshments at 3:30. Topics include:
- You Want Me to Teach About WHAT??? Teaching Outside Your Comfort Zone
Kristin Douglas (Biology) and Wendy Hilton-Morrow (Communication Studies)
- What's in it for our Students? Teaching Future Business Leaders to Think about Gender
Craig VanSandt (Business)
- You're NOT Alone: Resources to Support Gender "Newbies" and "Oldies"
Anne Earel (Library)
- Gender ALREADY matters in your classes: Gender and Teacher-Student Interactions
Sharon Varallo (Communication Studies)
After these short presentations there will be plenty of time for discussion. I hope you can join us.
Also, whether you're interested in participating in the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning or just reaping some of the fruits of others' labors, take a look at the Virtual SoTL Expo. It summarizes the inaugural SoTL Expo held on Georgia Southern University's campus on March 30, 2010. Just fill in "Augustana College (IL)" in the "Other" box and you're in. Take a look; I'm sure you'll find something of interest!
In the meantime, have a productive week 8.
