Fall Connection 2013
Fall Connection will begin Thursday, Aug. 22, and run through Sunday, Aug. 25. Classes will begin on Monday, Aug. 26.
Fall Connection is designed to ease your transition to Augustana College. On the Thursday afternoon before classes begin, you and your parents will arrive on campus for our welcoming events, including a campus picnic and our Opening Convocation. After your parents depart, you will have three days in which you can explore the campus, meet fellow students and other community members, and settle into your new home.
A wide range of group-building events will help you become acquainted with life on campus. You will witness a professional hypnotist in action. You'll spend an evening socializing with new friends as you cruise the Mississippi River on the Celebration Belle. And you will have an opportunity to spend half a day taking part in a service activity in the Quad-Cities community.
Of course, we also will help you gain your academic footing as you begin your Augustana education. You will meet one-on-one with your first-year advisor and with your LSFY 101 instructor, where you will join a discussion of the summer reading. By the time you start classes on Monday, you will already be well acquainted with your new home and community.
Watch for more information about Fall Connection, which we'll mail to you and your family in late July. We will provide you with a schedule of activities, campus maps and all the details you'll need when you arrive Aug. 22. We look forward to seeing you then!

3. Your personal name tag. This is more than just a name tag because it lists your advising group number and other important information not provided elsewhere. It's yours to wear throughout Fall Connection to identify you as a student, to help others learn your name, and to identify your assigned advising group, meeting locations, and the names of your peer mentor and first-year advisor. All of this information is printed on your name tag so you can refer to it at any time. Please place the name tag around your neck as soon as you receive it.
