2009-2010 Season - Carr finishes 10th at Mt. Mercy Invite
MARION, Iowa – Sophomore Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) shot a two day total of 174 to finish in 10th place at the Mount Mercy Spring Invitational this past weekend at Hunters Ridge Golf Course in Marion, Iowa. Carr shot an opening round of 90 before firing an 84 on the second day of competition, leading the Vikings to a seventh place team finish.
Augustana had a team score of 759 after shooting a 377 on the first day and a 382 for the second round of competition. St. Olaf claimed the team title with a two day total of 687 with Carleton placing second (707). Ashford placed third (727), Grinnell took fourth (737), Clarke was fifth (741), and Viterbo grabbed the sixth slot (756). The Blue & Gold finished in front of Coe (773), Mount Mercy (791), and Iowa Wesleyan (824).
Junior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) finished second for Augustana, totaling a 192 (92 + 100) and finishing in 25th place. Freshman Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) tied for 28th place with a 195, shooting rounds of 95 and 100. Senior Katy Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) shot a 210 (112 + 98) and tied for 43rd place. Senior Liz Scarlata (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) placed 49th with a two day score of 218 (100 + 118). Junior Courtney VandeWiele (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) finished with a score of 248 (120 +128) and finished in 52nd place.
Ashford’s Jordan Davis won medalist honors with a score of 166. She shot an opening round 84 and came back with an impressive round of 82 on the second day of play.
