2009-2010 Season - Women's track is third at Lee Calhoun

Riding the strength of three point scorers in the 3000, the Augustana women's track & field team is in third place after one day of competition at the Lee Calhoun Memorial at Western Illinois in Macomb. The Vikings of veteran head coach Fred Whiteside have 30 points in the 11 team meet, 19 behind Marquette's leading total of 49.

Indiana-Purdue/Fort Wayne is second with 44. St. Ambrose is fourth with 26 while Ashford (18), Millikin (14), Eastern Illinois (10), Western Illinois (9), Illinois College (6), Monmouth (3) and Iowa (1) round out the field.

Brittany Prazak (Naperville North HS, Naperville, Ill.) led the 3000 meter runners with a fourth place finish in 11:38.63. Katie Ries (Iowa City Regina HS, Iowa City, Iowa) was fifth in 11:41.01 and Kristin Sattizahn (Erie HS, Erie, Ill.) took sixth in 12:09.86. The finishes of Prazak, Ries and Sattizahn combined for 12 of Augustana's 30 points.

The 3200 relay team of Sarahbeth Jones (Warren Township HS, Wadsworth, Ill.), Annie Heifner (Oregon HS, Oregon,Wis.), Theresa Coverick (Stagg HS, Palos Park, Ill.) and Angela Pisani (York HS, Elmhurst, Ill.) finished second with a time of 9:52.79.

The 800 relay of Brittany Bennett (Annawan HS, Annawan, Ill.), Valerie Bach (Palatine HS, Palatine, Ill.), Morgan Gale (Oregon HS, Oregon, Ill.) and Katie Bedene (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) took fourth in 1:48.91 while the sprint medley unit of Ainsley Fedler (Burlington HS, Burlington, Iowa), Catherine Foreman (St. Joseph-Ogden HS, St. Joseph, Ill.), Amy Walsh (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) and Hannah Hottle (Monmouth-Roseville HS, Monmouth, Ill.) placed fourth in 4:28.53.
