2010 Season - Fobert named "Hitter of the Week" in CCIW
Senior centerfielder Missy Fobert (Rock Island Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) of Augustana has been selected as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin “Hitter of the Week” for the week ending April 4, it was announced today. Last week was an abbreviated one for the Vikings but Fobert was instrumental in her team getting off to a 2-0 start in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin.
Augustana swept a CCIW doubleheader from Wheaton on Thursday, April 1 in the conference opener for both teams. The Vikings won the first game 9-2 and came back with an 8-4 victory in the nightcap.
Fobert was three for four in the first game with one run scored, three runs-batted-in, a double and a home run. In the second game she was one for two with a stolen base.
For the week she had four hits in six at-bats with one run scored, three RBI, one double, one home run and one stolen base.
The Vikings are currently 16-5 overall and ranked 11th in NCAA Division III. Fobert is the leading hitter on the team with a .442 average. She has played and started 21 games and has 19 hits in 43 at-bats with 12 runs scored, two doubles, one triple, three home runs and 14 RBI. She has walked five times and has four stolen bases. She has also contributed six sacrifice hits, one sacrifice fly and has walked five times.
An accounting and finance major, she is the daughter of Jim and Kathy Fobert of Rock Island, Illinois.
