2009-2010 Season - Hottle named CCIW's "Athlete of the Week"
Augustana junior Hannah Hottle (Monmouth-Roseville HS, Monmouth, Ill.) has been selected as the “Athlete of the Week” for women’s track & field in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, it was announced today. Hottle won the 800 at the 69th annual Viking Olympics, which was held on March 26 & 27 at Paul V. Olsen Track/Ericson Field with a time of 2:20.63.
That was not the only action for Hottle during the meet as she also ran the anchor leg on the 1600 meter relay team that finished second in a time of 4:06.84.
Hottle opened the 2010 outdoor season with a win in the 1500 at the Early Spring Opener on March 19 at home with a time of 4:59.35. During the recently concluded indoor campaign she posted the best time on the team in five different individual events. She was tops in the 500 (1:20.33), 600 (1:40.54), 800 (2:18.73), 1000 (3:10.94) and mile (5:18.20). She also ran on the 1600 and distance medley relay teams. She placed third in the 800 at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championships.
The daughter of Buff and Tammi Hottle of Monmouth, Hannah is a biology/pre-medicine major. She is the second Augustana women’s track & field athlete during this young outdoor season to win “Athlete of the Week” honors in the CCIW. Last week her teammate Caitlin Quinn (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) won the award for field events.
