2009-2010 Season - Weigand in fourth place after first day
GALESBURG, Ill. - Kyle Weigand (Leyden HS, Franklin Park, Ill.) fired a four over par 76 and was in fourth place after the first day of competition at the Prairie Fire Invitational on Friday, March 26. Weigand is just two shots behind the co-leaders Jay Gitlewski of Carroll and Sean McNamara of Monmouth, who carded identical scores of 74 at Soangetaha Golf Course in Galesburg, Illinois.
Augustana is currently in sixth place in the 16 team tournament with a score of 322. Carroll is leading with a 306 while Monmouth is right behind at 307. Wheaton is in third with a score of 311 and Knox is fourth at 319. Monmouth's number two team is fifth at 321 and the Vikings are just one shot back of the Scots. Augustana also has a second team in the field and that unit is in 13th with a 341.
Besides Weigand, the Vikings' Jordan Henry (Erie HS, Erie, Ill.) is also in the top 15 with a score of 78 that currently has him in 12th place. Greg Karesh (Downers Grove South HS, Downers Grove, Ill.) shot an 83 while Phil Litchfield (Benet Academy, Darien, Ill.) and Jeff Paustian (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) both recorded rounds of 85.
The tournament will finish on Saturday.
