CALL FOR PROPOSALS
Alumni/Departmental Summer Assistantships
[4 awards at $500 paid to the student]
Proposal: Should provide an overview and scope of the work to be done and the impact of this project on the student, the college and/or the discipline. It is preferred that the proposal come from both student and faculty, however, proposals from faculty members will be considered if the student has not been selected yet. Proposals do not have to be lengthy, 1-2 pages will suffice. Submit proposals electronically to marykoski@augustana.edu.
Projects: The Alumni Association Board of Directors would like to encourage all subjects and research projects to consider this opportunity---they value supporting a variety of departments.

JOSEPH B. AND TOBY GITTLER PRIZE
The Joseph B. and Toby Gittler Prize was created by the late Professor Joseph B. Gittler to recognize outstanding and lasting scholarly contributions to racial, ethnic and/or religious relations. The Joseph B. and Toby Gittler Endowed Fund at Brandeis University supports this annual award.
The award includes a cash prize of $25,000 and a medal. The prize and medal are presented at a ceremony that includes a reception and a public lecture by the recipient on the Brandeis University campus in Waltham, Massachusetts.
Recipients of the Joseph B. and Toby Gittler Prize will have produced a body of published work that reflects scholarly excellence and a lasting contribution to racial, ethnic and/or religious relations anywhere in the world. Recipients need not be American citizens or reside in the United States. To be considered for the prize, candidates must be formally nominated. Nominations must be submitted in writing or by using the online nomination form; they should not exceed 1,000 words.
The nomination should include:
- The nominator's name, current affiliation and contact information
- The candidates's name, current affiliation and contact information
- An explanation of the rationale for the candidate's selection
- A list of the candidates' most important scholarly works relevant to consideration for the prize
- A biographical statement or curriculum vitae may be included but is not required.
Nominations must be received by April 15 for candidates to be considered for an award to be conferred in the academic year immediately following.
