2009-2010 Season - Heading into CCIW women are 28th in nation
Head coach Fred Whiteside’s Augustana women’s track & field team is ranked 28th in the latest NCAA Division III indoor power ranking of the 2010 season. The power ranking is sponsored by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and it encompasses the top two performances by each team in every event.
The Vikings have amassed 108.60 points in the most recent poll. Ahead of the Augustana women are three members of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. North Central is currently ranked second with 145.21 points. Illinois Wesleyan has slipped to 8th with 133.26 points and Carthage has fallen to 25th with 111.63. Seven of the top ten teams also reside in the Midwest region. Wisconsin La Crosse has grabbed hold of the number one ranking with 146.93 points. Wisconsin-Eau Claire (3rd -139.26), Wisconsin-Whitewater (4th -138.91), University of Chicago (6th -135.78), and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (9th -131.40) also call the Midwest Region home.
Rounding out the top 10 is: University of St. Thomas of Minnesota (5th with 136.10), College of New Jersey (7th with 133.63) and University of Rochester (10th with 130.53). Augustana placed 3rd in the Wisconsin- La Crosse Triangular on February 19. The Vikings will be heading to Naperville on February 26 and 27 to participate in the CCIW Conference meet.
