2009-2010 Season - Augustana women earn fourth at CCIW meet
KENOSHA, Wis. – Freshman Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.), senior Ramsey Vens (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), freshman Mary Naughton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.), and freshman Alexa Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) closed out the final day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship meet with a fifth place finish in the 400 freestyle relay (3:48.61), ensuring a fourth place team finish for the Vikings at the three day event hosted by Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The Blue & Gold finished with 297 points.
Wheaton edged Carthage by three points (816-813) to win the team title. Illinois Wesleyan finished third with 665 points. Augustana finished seven points in front of Rose-Hulman (290) and also defeated North Central (225) and Millikin (202).
Vens claimed the top individual finish for Augustana on the third day of competition, taking sixth in the 200 backstroke (2:22.85). Clennon finished 12th in the 100 freestyle (:56.62) and 13th in the 1650 freestyle (19:31.41). Senior Sara Hlavin (St. Viator HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) and freshman Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.) each had a 13th place finish as well. Hlavin completed the 200 backstroke with a clocking of 2:22.85. Timmons hit the finish line with a time of 2:45.25 in the 200 breaststroke.
Freshmen Hollyann Kabbe (Fenton HS, Bensenville, Ill.) and Anna Lundine (Willowbrook HS, Villa Park, Ill.) gave Augustana a trio of scorers in the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 15th and 16th in the event. Kabbe turned in a time of 3:13.54 and Lundine finished the race in 3:17.28. Freshman Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) added a 14th place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:25.19.
