2009-2010 Season - Viking men place fifth at CCIW meet
KENOSHA, Wis. – Senior Kyle Waller (DeKalb HS, DeKalb, Ill.) turned in the top individual performance for the Augustana men’s swimming team on the final day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championship Meet, placing eighth in the 100 freestyle with a time of :48.30. The Vikings took fifth as a team with 254.50 points at the three day event held at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
Carthage won the team title with 1,018.50 points. Wheaton placed second with 777.50 points with Rose-Hulman grabbing the third spot (539). Illinois Wesleyan was fourth (467.50) and Millikin completed the six team field with 190 points.
Freshman Chris Greaves (Morris HS, Morris, Ill.) also notched a top-ten individual finish, taking ninth in the 200 butterfly with a clocking of 2:03.72. Freshman Marcus Julian (Lake Park HS, Itasca, Ill.) was 10th in the 200 breaststroke, hitting the finish with a time of 2:18.62. Waller, Greaves, and Julian also teamed with senior Eric Zike (Ridgeview HS, Colfax, Ill.) to finish fifth in the 400 freestyle relay (3:17.21).
Senior Jake Glimco (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) and freshman Jon Hill (Hersey HS, Prospect, Ill.) finished in 14th and 15th place in the 1650 freestyle race. Glimco had a time of 19:40.28 while Hill completed the event in 20:30.88. Senior Will Danay (Muscatine HS, Muscatine, Iowa) earned a 14th place showing in the 100 freestyle (:50.65). Freshman Eric Pease (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) took 15th in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:28.00. Zike was 15th in the 200 backstroke (2:08.23).
