2009-2010 Season - Fourth place 400 medley relay leads Vikings
KENOSHA, Wis. – Senior Ramsey Vens (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), senior Sara Hlavin (St. Viator HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.), freshman Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.), and freshman Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.) combined for a fourth place showing in the 400 medley relay to lead the Augustana women’s swimming team at the first day of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin championship meet. The four Vikings finished with a time of 4:16.36. The three day event is being held in Kenosha, Wisconsin and hosted by Carthage College.
Freshman Mary Naughton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Neb.), freshman Alexa Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.), sophomore Alissa Giedd (Freeport HS, Cedarville, Ill.), and junior Emily Cox (Pioneer HS, Ann Arbor, Mich.) also put together a strong relay performance. The quartet took fifth in the 200 freestyle relay, hitting the finish line with a clocking of 1:45.83.
Three Vikings competed in the finals of the 50 freestyle. Naughton was 13th (:26.24), Piper placed 15th (:26.47), and Giedd took 16th (:26.88). Hlavin and freshman Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.) both earned spots in the finals of the 200 individual medley. Hlavin grabbed 13th place with a time of 2:19.82. Timmons was 16th in a time of 2:24.35.
