2010 Season - Baseball team tabbed for fourth in CCIW
Head coach Greg Wallace’s Augustana Vikings have been picked for fourth in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin’s 2010 pre-season baseball poll. The league’s coaches tabbed Carthage as the favorite with 47 total points and five first place votes. Illinois Wesleyan was in second place with 42 total points and two first place votes while Wheaton was tabbed for third with 40 points and one first place vote.
Behind Augustana were North Central (25), North Park (20), Millikin (11) and Elmhurst (10). Voting in the preseason poll is done by the head baseball coaches in the CCIW. Each coach votes for the seven other schools in the conference in order of predicted finish. Points are assigned in reverse order of voting (seven points for first, six for second, etc.). Coaches may not vote for their own team.
Last year Augustana finished the 2009 campaign with a 23-17 overall record and a 10-10 mark in the CCIW, good for fourth place.
The Vikings open their 2010 season on February 25 with a double header against Grove City in Winter Haven Florida.
