2009-2010 Season - Women 15th in latest NCAA poll
Head coach Fred Whiteside's Augustana women's track & field team is ranked 15 th in the most recent NCAA Division III indoor power ranking of the 2010 season. The power ranking is sponsored by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and it encompasses the top two performances by each team in every event.
The Vikings have accumulated 99.94 points in the poll and ahead of them are three members of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. North Central is the number two ranked team with 128.41 points, Illinois Wesleyan is third with 124.58, and Carthage is sixth with 111.63 Five of the top six spots in the nation are from teams in the Midwest Region lead by top ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse with 131.88 points. Monmouth comes in at number four with 116.45 points. Coming in fifth between the Titans and the Fighting Scots is Ohio Wesleyan with 115.52 points.
Rounding out the top 15 is: Emory (seventh with 109.55), Marietta (eighth with 108.49), College of New Jersey (108.49), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (107.25), Wartburg (106.52), Lynchburg (103.97), Ohio Northern (103.63), and Washington University (102.97).
Augustana placed third at the Wartburg Invitational on January 30. The Vikings will be at the Warhawk Invitational on Saturday, February 5 in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
