2009-2010 Season - Vikings now third in NCAA dual meet rankings
The 2010 indoor track & field season is well underway and the Augustana men's team finds itself sitting at number three in the most recent dual meet ranking of the campaign. The power ranking is sponsored by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and it encompasses the top two performances by each team in every event. The Vikings, under the direction of veteran head coach Paul Olsen, finished the 2009 indoor season ranked seventh in NCAA Division III.
The second ranking has Augustana with 145.01 points while fellow College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin member North Central is in the one spot ahead of them with 151.36 points. Wisconsin-Oshkosh (153.28) holds the top spot while Wisconsin-Eau Claire (130.33) and College of New Jersey (128.95) round out the top five. This week again sees five of the top 10 teams in the national ranking hailing from the Midwest Region with Wisconsin-Platteville (121.92) clinging to the tenth spot.
The Vikings won the Wartburg Invitational on January 30. They will be competing in the Warhawk Invitational on February 5 in Whitewater, Wisconsin.
