2009-2010 Season - Women's track ranked sixth in NCAA Division III
The Augustana women’s track & field team of veteran head coach Fred Whiteside is ranked sixth in the first NCAA Division III indoor power ranking of the 2010 season. The power ranking is sponsored by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCA) and it encompasses the top two performances by each team in every event.
The Vikings have accumulated 98.35 points in the poll and ahead of them are two members of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. North Central is the number one ranked team with 115.08 points and Illinois Wesleyan is third with 105.13. The top three spots in the nation are from teams in the Midwest Region as Monmouth is in second between the Cardinals and the Titans with 112.96 points. Also ahead of Augustana are College of New Jersey (fourth with 104.80) and Ohio Wesleyan (fifth with 99.71).
Rounding out the top 10 are: Lynchburg (seventh with 98.18), Marietta (eighth with 94.76), Nebraska Wesleyan (94.36) and Wisconsin-Platteville (93.33).
So far this season Augustana has a championship at the Dubuque Invitational on January 16 and a third place finish in the Midwest Invitational in Monmouth, Illinois on January 23. The Vikings will be at the Wartburg Invitational on Saturday, January 30 in Waverly, Iowa.
