2009-2010 Season - Women's track opens at UW-Oshkosh
The Augustana Vikings dropped a pair of decisions in the season opening meet of the 2010 women’s track & field indoor season at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Veteran head coach Fred Whiteside’s team fell to the host Titans of UW-Oshkosh by a score of 95.5-50.5 and dropped the meet against the University of Chicago 83-63. The meet was run in invitational fashion but the scores were assessed in a dual meet format.
The Vikings did not win a single event but did produce four second place performances, three in individual events and one in a relay. Senior Ainsley Fedler (Burlington HS, Burlington, Iowa) took second in the 55 meter dash with a time of :07.62. Junior Hannah Hottle (Monmouth-Roseville HS, Monmouth, Ill.) took second in the 800 in 2:23.44. Senior Caitlin Quinn (Metamora HS, Metamora, Ill.) finished second in the pole vault with a clearance of 8’ 10 ¼”. The 1600 relay team of junior Allison Schaley (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.), Hottle, junior Amy Walsh (Cary-Grove HS, Cary, Ill.) and freshman Sarabeth Jones (Warren Township HS, Wadsworth, Ill.) placed second with a time of 4:10.88, just behind the winning mark of 4:09.02 turned in by UW-Oshkosh.
Schaley took third in the 55 hurdles in :09.55. Junior Ella Mathieson (Lyons Township HS, LaGrange, Ill.) was third in both the long jump (15’ 11 ¾”) and triple jump (31’ 6 ½”). Junior Kristen Klouda (West Chicago HS, Winfield, Ill.) placed third in the pole vault (8’ 4 ¼”) and freshman Taylor Tjardes (Gibson City/Melvin/Sibley HS, Gibson City, Ill.) took fourth in the same event with a clearance of 7’ 4 ½”. Jones finished fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:27.12.
