ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – Sophomore Kayla Radloff (West Chicago HS, West Chicago, Ill.) was recently named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-America team for 2009. Radloff earned third team status after a sensational season in goal for the Vikings and is the first All-America selection in Augustana women’s soccer history.
Radloff played in 22 games and logged 1,969 minutes in goal for the Blue & Gold while recording a 19-2-1 record. She earned 11 shutouts and finished the year with a goals against average of 0.55. Radloff only allowed 12 goals and snatched 57 saves, helping the Vikings make a remarkable run to the “Sweet 16” of the NCAA Tournament.
The sophomore has also been honored as a first team selection to both the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin All-Conference team and the NSCAA All-Central Region Team.
She had a superb season all the way through, opening the year with five straight shutouts and then closing out the season with a pair of shutouts in the CCIW Tournament and another shutout in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. In between, Radloff played a key role in helping the Vikings go undefeated in CCIW league action, as Augustana notched its first conference title in program history. The Blue & Gold were ranked as high as No. 5 in the nation during the team’s historic run in 2009.
