2009-10 Season - Vikings ranked 15th heading into Gonzaga
Heading into tonight’s matchup with NCAA Division I Gonzaga in Spokane, Washington, the Augustana Vikings have climbed into the top 15 in the latest D3hoops.com national poll. Veteran head coach Grey Giovanine’s team is currently 5-0 and will play at Gonzaga, which is rated in the top 20 in two different NCAA Division I polls, this evening at 8:00 p.m. (Central Standard Time).
Augustana was not ranked in the pre-season but after opening the season with three fairly easy home wins, followed by two road victories (over Anderson and Knox), the Vikings jumped to 21 st last week. The Blue & Gold has not played since beating Knox on Monday, November 30 but still climbed six spots in this week’s poll.
Following the game at Gonzaga, Augustana will travel back to the Midwest and will be in St. Louis, Missouri on Saturday, December 12 to face Washington. The Bears are the two time NCAA Division III national champion and are currently 5-0 and ranked first in the D3hoops.com poll.
