2009-2010 Season - Women's basketball falls 59-57 at Robert Morris
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Augustana women’s basketball team dropped a 59-57 decision against Robert Morris on Monday, December 7 in Springfield, Illinois. The Vikings were coming off three straight wins, but failed to connect on some late free throws in the two point road loss. The Blue & Gold are now 3-3 overall this season.
Both teams struggled from the floor in the opening half and the game was knotted at 21-21 heading into halftime. Augustana shot 9-28 (32.1 percent) from the field, while Robert Morris was held to 8-28 (28.6 percent) from the field.
Augustana heated up in the second half, knocking down 13-25 (52.0 percent) of its shots, but only made 8-18 free throws (44.4 percent) throughout the contest.
Sophomores Natalie Runge (St. Dominic HS, O’Fallon, Mo.) and Lani Kasten (German Valley HS, Forreston, Ill.) both turned in double-doubles for the Vikings, finishing in double figures in points and rebounds. Runge led the team with 15 points while Kasten contributed 11. Both starters grabbed 11 rebounds.
Freshman Kristin Warnken (Centaurus HS, Erie, Colo.) was also in double figures with 12 points. She made a trio of three point field goals and tied with Kasten for the team lead with three assists.
Robert Morris was led by Tanesha Parker’s 21 points and 14 rebounds. She snared 10 offensive boards and the Eagles grabbed 20 as a team, another key factor in the game. Jasmine Mack and Latoya Gipson were also in double figures for the home team with 12 points and 11 points respectively.
