A 150th party for the hometown
Augustana College shared a special sesquicentennial observance with the community at a gala Hometown Celebration on Sept. 1, 2010, at Schwiebert Riverfront Park in Rock Island. It was the 150th anniversary of the day the college's first classes met. (more)

Dec. 15, 1938: "Augie's All-American Drafted by Brooklyn" George Lenc, the most distinguished athlete Augustana has probably ever had, has been drafted to play with the Brooklyn Dodgers of the National Professional football league. Whether Lenc will accept the offer to play on the pro gridiron depends largely upon the condition of his leg. (more)

Poetry in honor of our 150 years
Dick Stahl, a 1963 graduate of Augustana, served as poet laureate of the Quad Cities from 2001 to 2003. In celebration of the college's sesquicentennial, Stahl composed the following four poems. (more)
