Academic Merit Scholarships
Students are automatically considered for academic merit scholarships based on their application for admission. Students may receive one of the following awards based on their credentials. Notification of any award is included in a student's acceptance letter.
High school students
Presidential Scholarship $17,000 annually - These awards are reserved for academically superior students. To be considered, eligible students typically rank in the top ten percent of their high school class. Students must have demonstrated exemplary academic performance in a challenging academic program, as well as outstanding out-of-classroom involvement, good character and citizenship. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Full time enrollment and renewal GPA required.
Dean's Scholarship $16,000 annually - These awards are reserved for academically superior students. To be considered, eligible students typically rank in the top 20 percent of their high school class. Students must have demonstrated exemplary academic performance in a challenging academic program, as well as outstanding out-of-classroom involvement, good character and citizenship. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Full time enrollment and renewal GPA required.
Founders Scholarship $10,500-$15,500 annually - These scholarships are competitive and are awarded to students whose high school course selection has been challenging, whose academic performance is excellent, and who have made significant achievements and contributions to their high school and community. To be eligible, a student must plan to enroll full-time at Augustana College. Full time enrollment and renewal GPA required.
Transfer students
Transfer Scholarship $8,500-$12,500 annually - Awarded to select students who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance in their previous college studies. Renewal requires a 3.0 Augustana cumulative grade-point average, depending on the award amount.
Transfer Scholarship - Phi Theta Kappa $3,000 annually - Awarded to members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society. This scholarship is in addition to the Transfer Scholarship. Full time enrollment and renewal GPA required.
Scholarships which do not require an application or audition process
Alumni Scholarship $1,000 annually - Given to students whose parent(s) are alumnae/alumni of Augustana College.
For Ohio Residents A Minimum award of $2,500/year - the Austin E. Knowlton Scholarship is available to admissible students from Ohio, regardless of financial need. More information on the Austin E. Knowlton Scholarship.
Travel Scholarship $4,000 ($1000 per year for four years) for students who live outside of Illinois and attend one of our visit days or a personal admissions interview. Official campus visits must take place before March 1. Students must be accepted to the college to receive this award. More information on the Augustana Travel Award.

Major/Career Specific
Departmental Open House and Scholarship Competition $1000 annually - Awarded to winners of the January Departmental Open House and Scholarship Competition featuring more than 30 academic departments and nearly 90 majors and related areas of study. Renewed based on departmenal criteria.

For Future ELCA Church Leaders Up to $5,000 annually - The Rissing Scholarship is awarded each year to students who wish to prepare for professional leadership in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America. Award is renewable by maintaining a 2.5 Augustana cumulative grade-point average. More information on the Rissing Scholarship.
Lucken Geology Scholarship Up to $4,000 annually - Established by 1962 graduates John E. and Mary Thorson Lucken, this merit-based scholarship is for geology majors.
Endowed Scholarships: Amounts vary. These scholarships are made possible by friends of the College. The Office of Financial Assistance will advise you of any for which you qualify.
Fine Arts
Art Scholarship Up to $2,500 annually - Awarded to selected students after review of their portfolios. Renewal based on recommendation of the Art Department.

Debate Scholarship $500-$2,500 annually - Awarded to students based on their proficiency in debate as recommended by the Department of Speech Communication.

Honors Music Scholarships Up to $4,500 annually - The Deisenroth Music Scholarship ($4,500 annually) and Morgan Music Scholarship ($5,000 annually), are each awarded to one new student who need not be a music major, based on a music audition. The Nels and Emma Swanson Voice Scholarship awards $5,000 annually to two students studying voice. Music honors scholarships award $4,000 to three talented students. The Augustana honors music scholarships award up to $4,000 to talented students, including non-majors, based on auditions. All awards are renewable upon the recommendations of the Music Department.

Carl B. Nelson Music Education Scholarship $500 annually - Awarded annually to a first-year student planning to major in music education. Renewal is based on recommendation of the Music Department.

Theatre Scholarships Up to $4,000 annually - The Judith Katz Memorial Theatre Scholarship is an award up to $4,000, renewable for four years. Please contact the Department of Theatre Arts for more details. Other theatre scholarships are available up to $2,500, and are awarded to exceptional individuals pursuing performance, technical theatre, playwriting or criticism. All require an on-campus audition or presentation, and are renewable based on recommendations of the Department of Theatre Arts.

Other Scholarship and Award opportunities
Goodfit T-shirt Photo Contest $1000, one year scholarship. Awarded to five students who win a category in the college's annual Good Fit T-Shirt Contest.

Augustana Lutheran Award Up to $1,000 - Eligible Lutheran students will receive up to $1,000 per academic year for four years. Students receiving $1,000 or more in gift assistance from any other source (state, federal or Augustana aid programs) are not eligible for this award. To be considered for the scholarship, the student's pastor must send a letter to the Office of Financial Assistance prior to June 1 indicating the student is a member in good standing in the church.
For FAFSA Filers $500 - The Early Filers Award is for students who submit the FAFSA, officially signed by applicant and one parent, to be received by the Federal Processing Agency no later than February 15. Renewable with FAFSA completion by March 15 each year. Students may receive this award regardless of financial need.
