2009-2010 Season - Women's swim team swamps Millikin

ROCK ISLAND, Illinois – Capturing 11 of 13 events, the Augustana women’s swim team rolled to an easy 159-54 victory over Millikin on Saturday, October 31 in the Carver Center pool. The Vikings of second year head coach Scott Johannsen failed to win just the 100 butterfly and the 500 freestyle as they won their first dual meet of the season.

Freshman Molly Clennon (Benet Academy, Naperville, Ill.) and sophomore Tonya Walter (Prospect HS, Mt. Prospect, Ill.) were both individual double winners in the meet. Clennon took the 1000 freestyle in 11:58.93 and the 100 freestyle in :57.25 while Walter captured both the one meter (171.01) and the three meter (127.65) diving events.

The 200 medley relay team of senior Ramsey Vens (Pleasant Valley HS, Bettendorf, Iowa), freshman Emily Timmons (West Aurora HS, North Aurora, Ill.), freshman Emma Regnier (Grayslake North HS, Lake Villa, Ill.) and freshman Alexandra Piper (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) got things off to a fast start by winning in 2:00.24 in the first event of the afternoon.  Vens won the 100 backstroke in 1:04.63, Piper took first in the 50 freestyle with a time of :26.92 and Timmons won the 100 breaststroke in 1:16.07. Vens also added a second in the 200 individual medley in 2:25.92 while Timmons took third in that event in 2:226.97.

Senior Sara Hlavin (St. Viator HS, Elk Grove Village, Ill.) won the 200 individual medley, where Vens and Timmons were second and third, in a time of 2:22.09. Hlavin was also second in the 500 freestyle in 5:46.93. Junior Emily Cox (Pioneer HS, Ann Arbor, Michigan) won the 200 freestyle in 2:09.50. The 200 freestyle relay closed out the meet by winning in a time of 1:50.25. The members of that unit were freshman Mary Naughton (Fremont HS, Fremont, Nebraska), Alissa Giedd (Freeport HS, Cedarville, Ill.), Hlavin, and Clennon.

Giedd took second in the 100 freestyle (1:00.37) and third in the 200 freestyle (2:15.18) while Regnier finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:05.14. Naughton was third in the 50 freestyle with a time of :27.87. Freshman Hollyann Kabbe (Fenton HS, Bensenville, Ill.) placed second in the 50 freestyle in :27.28 and sophomore Colleen Mans (Robbinsdale Cooper HS, New Hope, Minnesota) took second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:09.46. Freshman Anna Lundine (Willowbrook HS, Villa Park, Ill.) placed second in the 100 breaststroke (1:34.70) and third in the 500 freestyle (5:51.37).
