2009-10 Season - CCIW Coaches Pick Augustana for Second
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Coach Grey Giovanine's 2009-10 Augustana Vikings have been picked to finish second in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin in a poll by the league's eight men's head basketball coaches. Defending champion Wheaton was picked for first with 46 total points, seven ahead of the Vikings' 39.
Wheaton garnered four first-place votes, while Augustana received two and Carthage and Illinois Wesleyan, picked for third and fourth respectively with 37 and 36 points, each got one. The rest of the poll had Elmhurst fifth with 22 points, Millikin sixth with 17, North Central seventh with 15 and North Park tabbed for eighth with 12 points.
Wheaton won the CCIW in 2008-09 with an 11-3 record (26-4 overall), followed by Elmhurst (10-4; 20-8), Augustana (9-5; 18-8) and North Central (8-6; 16-10).
Augustana opens its season at home versus Simpson at 7:30 p.m. November 16 at Carver Center.
