2009 Season - Dolan wins CCIW honor in men's soccer
Augustana senior goal keeper Mike Dolan (Libertyville HS, Libertyville, Ill.) put together an outstanding week for the Vikings and for his effort was rewarded as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin “Player of the Week” in men’s soccer. Dolan posted back to back shutouts of Wheaton (1-0) and North Park (2-0) and helped Augustana climb back into the conference race.
Dolan recorded seven saves and faced a total of 22 shots as the Vikings defeated Wheaton 1-0 on October 7 at Joe Bean Field in Wheaton, Illinois. It was the Vikings first ever men’s soccer victory at Wheaton, snapping a 16 match streak. Augustana only owns two victories total in the series history – a total of 30 matches. There have been four ties.
Coming off that outstanding effort against the Thunder, Dolan backed that up with another seven-save performance in a 2-0 home victory against North Park on Saturday, October 10. He faced 16 shots in that victory.
Dolan has logged every minute for the Vikings in goal this year, a total of 1,010 and he has allowed 15 goals and sports a goals-against-average of 1.34. He has recorded three shutouts this season and he has a 5-6-0 individual record.
Augustana, which has now won two matches in a row, is 5-6-0 overall and will face Beloit on Tuesday, October 13 in Beloit, Wisconsin.
