2009 Season - UW-River Falls snaps win streak at six
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - After running its winning streak to six straight with a 3-0 victory over North Park on Tuesday, October 6, the Augustana volleyball team saw that skein snapped on Friday afternoon. The Vikings fell to Wisconsin-River Falls in the opening match of the Mabel Lee Volleyball Invitational at Coe in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Second year head coach Janelle Hester's team lost to the Falcons by scores of 25-23; 25-15; 25-23 in the first match of the tournament. Augustana bounced back, however, with a 3-2 win over Fontbonne in the second round. The Vikings lost the first set 25-22, won the second 25-10 and dropped the third 25-22. Forced to win the final two sets, that is exactly what happened - by scores of 25-15 and 15-5.
Augustana, which is now 9-12 overall on the year, will play Dubuque at 10:00 a.m. and then play Coe at 12:00 noon.
Wisconsin-River Falls made it through the first day with a perfect 2-0 record while Coe, Dubuque and Augustana are all 1-1. Fontbonne is currently 0-2.
