2009 Season - Women's soccer moves to 19th in ranking
Two victories and a tie last week helped propel the Augustana women’s soccer team up three spots in the latest NCAA Division III ranking. Veteran head coach Scott Mejia’s team moved to 19 th in the latest poll, which is compiled by D3soccer.com. Last week the Vikings made their 2009 debut in the national ranking at 22 nd.
Augustana defeated Coe by a score of 2-1 on Tuesday, September 29 at home and then beat Chapman 2-0 on Friday, October 2 in Orange, California. The Vikings tied California Lutheran, 1-1 in double overtime, on Sunday, October 4 in Thousand Oaks, California. That tie is the only blemish on the Augustana record so far. Heading into a 5:00 p.m. non-conference match against Carroll tonight in Waukesha, Wisconsin, the Vikings are 10-0-1 on the year.
They are also ranked fifth in the Central Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.
