2009 Season - Coulson named Player of the Week again
For the second consecutive week, Augustana sophomore Erin Coulson (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) has been chosen as the “Offensive Player of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin. This time it was for the week ending Sunday, October 4. Coulson, a 5-0 forward, had a huge role last week as the Vikings went undefeated in three matches.
She scored a goal in all three matches as head coach Scott Mejia’s team went 2-0-1 on the week. She scored a goal in the 2-1 win over Coe on September 29 at home. The Vikings then went on the road to California and she tallied one goal in a 2-0 win at Chapman on Friday, October 2 and scored her team’s lone goal in a 1-1 tie against California Lutheran. She accounted for three of the team’s five goals on the week.
Coulson, the daughter of Mike and Ann Coulson of Hermosa Beach, California, is a business administration major. She leads Augustana in goals so far this season. She has nine goals in 11 games as the Vikings are currently 10-0-1 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW. Augustana is ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III Central Region and 22nd in the nation.
As a freshman she scored eight goals and had two assists, giving her 17 goals and two assists for a total of 36 points in less than two years in a Viking uniform.
