2009 Season - Men's cross country ranked 13th
A second place finish in the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational may have caused a flip-flop in the latest NCAA Division III national poll in men’s cross country. Heading into the meet on Friday, September 25 Augustana was ranked 10 th and Wisconsin-Stevens Point was 13 th. After the Pointers scored a convincing victory by placing five runners in the top nine and winning with just 25 points, they moved up to 10 th. Augustana, which took second with 70 points, slid down to 13 th. Augustana accumulated 184 points in this week’s poll while UW-Stevens Point picked up 201.
Augustana had one finisher in the top 10 at the Brissman/Lundeen meet as Billy Wisser (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) was 10 th with a time of 25:46.6.
The national poll has a distinct Midwestern flavor five of the top 13 teams are in the Midwest region. North Central is ranked first for the fourth straight week with 280 points. Wisconsin-LaCrosse is second with 269 points. Wisconsin-Platteville checks in at eighth with 222 points. Wisconsin-Stevens Point (10 th) and Augustana (13 th) round out the Midwestern contingent.
The Vikings will be off this week before resuming action on Saturday, October 10 at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa.
