2009 Season - Coulson named CCIW Player of the Week
Sophomore Erin Coulson (Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) has been chosen as the “Offensive Player of the Week” in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin for the week ending Sunday, September 27. Coulson, a 5-0 forward, had a huge role in Augustana’s 2-1 victory over Millikin on Saturday, September 26 in women’s soccer action.
With her team trailing 1-0 at halftime, Coulson broke free early in the second half and took a perfect feed from senior Katie Oakes (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.). Her goal tied the match at the 54:40 mark and less than five minutes later (59:26), she scored the game winner off an assist from Caitlin Winkelman (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.).
Coulson, the daughter of Mike and Ann Coulson of Hermosa Beach, California, leads Augustana in goals so far this season. She has six goals in eight games as the Vikings are currently 8-0 overall and 2-0 in the CCIW. Augustana is ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III Central Region and 22nd in the nation. The Vikings also defeated Loras last week by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday, September 23.
As a freshman she scored eight goals and had two assists, giving her 14 goals and two assists for a total of 30 points in less than two years in a Viking uniform.
