2009 Season - Vikings second at Brissman/Lundeen

The Augustana Vikings, ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III national poll had a great showing at the Brissman-Lundeen meet on Friday, September 25 finishing second with a score of 70 points. The meet was held at Credit Island in Davenport, Iowa.

University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, ranked 13th in the NCAA Division III national poll won the meet with a score of 25 points. Finishing in third place after Augustana was Olivet Nazarene University scoring 125 points followed by Grinnell College with 133 and Truman State University with a final score of 143.

Sophomore Billy Wisser (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) was the top finisher for the Vikings for the second week in a row. He finished with a time of 25:46.6 and was 10th. Following closely behind Wisser in 11th was sophomore Mike Tisza (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) who looked strong as he finished in 25:51.2. Senior and co-captain Dan Bailey (Deerfield HS, Deerfield, Ill.) was the third finisher in 25:57.1 as he took 16th. Upon finishing the race Bailey said, “The conditions of the course made it difficult but, overall I feel like we ran well as a team.” 

Freshman Jonathan Smith (Moline HS, Moline, Ill.) was the fourth place finisher for the Vikings in 25:58.8 and was 19th overall. He was followed by senior and co-captain Brian Hart (University City HS, St. Louis, Missouri) finishing in 26.13.2 and 24th.

Senior and co-captain Chris Zook (Normal Community HS, Normal, Ill.) clocking in at 26:21.4 and 29th with a positive attitude saying, “I think individually and as a team we are better this year than we were last year at this time. It’s exciting and there’s a lot to look forward to.” The seventh finisher was sophomore Billy TenBusch (Prairie Ridge HS, Cary, Illinois) completing his first race this season with a great showing of 26:29.4 which placed him seventh on the team and 34th overall.
 
Augustana will compete at the Wartburg Invitational in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday, October 10 at 11:30 a.m.
