2009-2010 Season - Litchfield finishes 17th at Cress Creek
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Junior Phil Litchfield (Benet Academy, Darien, Ill.) shot rounds of 78 and 81 to lead the Augustana men’s golf team at the Creek Creek Collegiate Invitational on Monday, September 21. Litchfield’s total score of 159 put him in a tie for 17th place at the meet. The Vikings finished ninth in the 15 team field with a total score of 645 (314 + 331).
Aurora won the team title with a score of 614. They were followed by Elmhurst (630), Wheaton (632), Benedictine (635), North Central (636), Edgewood (642), and MSOE (643). The Vikings finished in front of North Park (656), Webster (661), Marian (685), Concordia (708), Wisconsin Lutheran (609), and Rockford (DNF).
Freshman Jeff Paustian (Geneva HS, Geneva, Ill.) was second for Augustana and finished tied for 23rd overall after rounds of 80 and 81 gave him a score of 161. Junior Kyle Weigand (Leyden HS, Franklin Park, Ill.) tied for 28th in the field with a score of 162 (79 + 83). Junior Cole Wells (Tri-Valley HS, Downs, Ill.) shot a 163 (77 + 86) and earned a tie for 33rd place. Junior Ted Keopple (Geneseo HS, Geneseo, Ill.) also competed and tied for 49th place with a total of 170 (81 + 89).
Aurora’s Brandon Vicory earned medalist honors with a score of 147, firing rounds of 73 and 74 to win the individual title by five strokes.
