2009 Season - Volleyball falls to another top 10 opponent

Facing a fourth top-ten ranked opponent of the season, Augustana dropped a 3-0 decision to number four ranked Carthage on Tuesday, September 22 in the Carver PE Center. Carthage, which is now 11-1 overall and 2-0 in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin, won by scores of 25-15; 25-13; 25-19. The Vikings of head coach Janelle Hester are now 2-11 overall and 0-2 in the CCIW.

Junior Courtney Jungnickel (Naperville Central HS, Naperville, Ill.) led the team in kills with nine and she also contributed eight digs. Senior Mallory Thelander (Evanston HS, Evanston, Ill.) had five kills. Sophomore Nicole Jones (Yorkville HS, Yorkville, Ill.) and freshman Kelsey Mikula (Coal City HS, Coal City, Ill.) each posted 10 assists. Freshman Shannon Slick had a team high 12 digs.

Augustana will play on Friday, September 25 and Saturday, September 26 at the Grinnell Triangular in Grinnell, Iowa.
