2009 Season - Men's cross country ranked fourth in region
The Augustana men’s cross country team, which is currently ranked 11 th in the nation in NCAA Division III, showed up in the fourth spot in the first Midwest Regional poll of the season. The poll is conducted by the U.S. Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association.
Veteran head coach Paul Olsen’s team put is fourth behind North Central, Wisconsin-LaCrosse and Wisconsin-Platteville. The rest of the top ten is: Wisconsin-Stevens Point (5 th), Wisconsin-Oshkosh (6 th), Wisconsin-Eau Claire (7 th), Wisconsin-Whitewater (8 th), Washington (9 th) and Wheaton and Chicago (tied for 10 th). Last week at the Illinois Intercollegiate meet, Augustana placed third behind North Central and junior college power Rend Lake. Chicago, which is 10 th in this week’s regional ranking, was sixth in the team standings.
The Vikings will host the Brissman/Lundeen Invitational on Friday, September 25 at Credit Island in Davenport, Iowa.
