2009-2010 Season - Wilkinson shoots 88 to lead Vikings

MONMOUTH, Ill. – Freshman Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) turned in her best round of the season on Saturday, September 12, shooting an 88 and tying for 14th place in the 87 player field at the Monmouth Invitational in Monmouth, Illinois.  Augustana placed in a tie for 8th out of 14 teams at the event, completing the day with a team score of 379.

Maryville picked up the team crown with a score of 320, easily outdistancing Millikin (344) for the top spot.  Maryville’s Kayla Eckelkamp (73) and Samantha Keller (78) were also the top two individual finishers at the meet.  Elmhurst (351) and Grinnell (360) placed third and fourth respectively.  Robert Morris, Mount Mercy, and Illinois College each tied for fifth place with a total of 374.  Augustana and Ashford were close behind in a tie for the 8th spot at 379.  The Blue & Gold finished ahead of Clarke (386), Monmouth (392), Carl Sandburg CC (393), Edgewood (413), and Knox (436).

Sophomore Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) was the second finisher for the Vikings with a round of 90.  She tied for 21st place.  Freshman Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) shot a 98 and finished in a tie for 43rd place.  Senior Elizabeth Scarlata (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.) rounded out the Viking scoring with a total of 103, tying for 62nd.  Senior Katy Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) also competed and shot a 105 to place in a tie for 65th place.
