2009 Season - Vikings earn fifth straight shutout
LA CROSSE, Wis. – The defense continues to be the story for the Augustana women’s soccer team as the Vikings recorded a fifth straight shutout in a 1-0 win over UW-La Crosse on Sunday, September 13 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The Blue & Gold are now 5-0 and have outscored the opposition 17-0.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Radloff (West Chicago HS, West Chicago, Ill.) made a pair of saves and earns her fifth straight shutout as the anchor of the Viking defense.
The Vikings outshot the Eagles 16-5 in the first half, but the game remained scoreless heading to intermission. Augustana continued its offensive assault against UW-La Crosse goalkeeper Sagan Pizzingrilli in the second half and finally scored at the 70:14 mark to take a 1-0 lead. Freshman Taylor Moesle (Carl Sandburg HS, West Chicago, Ill.) tallied her fourth goal of the year and scored the game winner for the Vikings. Senior Lauren Polock (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.) was credited with the assist on Moesle’s goal.
The Blue & Gold finished with a 36-8 shot advantage and a 10-1 corner kick margin. Pizzingrilli kept the Eagles in the game by making a remarkable 20 saves during the contest.
