2009 Season - 3-0 win over UW-Stout is fourth shutout

A solid overall effort helped lift the Vikings to a 3-0 victory over Wisconsin-Stout in non-conference women’s soccer action on Saturday, September 12 in Menomonie, Wisconsin. It was the fourth shutout in as many outings for head coach Scott Mejia’s crew. Augustana is now 3-0 on the season and opponents have yet to find the net.

Goalkeeper Kayla Radloff (West Chicago HS, West Chicago, Ill.) recorded four saves and picked up her fourth straight shutout in the process, working all 90 minutes.

Freshman Taylor Moesle (Carl Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) got things started early for the Blue & Gold as she tallied off a corner kick just 11:31 into the game. Sophomore Ashley Higuchi (Smoky Hill HS, Aurora, Colo.) provided the assist.

Just before halftime freshman Paige Knippenberg (University HS, Normal, Ill.) scored an unassisted goal to make it 2-0. Her goal came just five seconds in front of intermission.  Sophomore Caitlin Winkelman (St. Charles North HS, St. Charles, Ill.) got the final goal at 61:27 when she headed in a cross from senior Lauren Polock (Wheaton North HS, Wheaton, Ill.).

Augustana held a 21-7 advantage in shots, including a 12-3 edge in the second half. The Vikings also earned nine corner kick to just one for the Blue Devils.
