2009-2010 Season - Vandersee ties for 9th at NCC Classic
NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Freshman Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) led the Viking attack for the second time in three meets, firing an 89 to finish in a tie for 9th place in a 67 player field at the North Central Cardinal Classic on Tuesday, September 8. Augustana finished fifth out of eight teams with a team score of 390.
Wheaton earned the team victory with a score of 350, five shots in front of St. Francis (355). Carthage (362) edged out Elmhurst (368) for third place. The Vikings finished ahead of North Central (392), Aurora (415), and Benedictine (442).
Wheaton’s Brittany Bronson grabbed medalist honors with a round of 83, finishing two strokes ahead of her teammate, Casi Blanton.
Freshman Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) was Augustana’s second finisher with a score of 94. She snared a tie for 22nd place at the event. Junior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) and senior Katy Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) were the other scoring golfers for the Vikings. Berens tied for 38th place with a 102 and Mascheri tied for the 45th spot with a 105.
Sophomore Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.), senior Elizabeth Scarlata (Fremd HS, Palatine, Ill.), and junior Courtney VandeWiele (Alleman HS, Rock Island, Ill.) also competed for the Blue & Gold. Carr shot a 107, Scarlata finished with a 110, and VandeWiele completed the course with a total of 129.
