Volume 7, Issue 4 - September 14, 2009ACTL
Greetings from the Center for Teaching & Learning.
For those who filled out the ACTL survey, a hearty thanks! As of this writing over one hundred of you have provided me with valuable input. Thank you too for your patience with my reminders!
By the time you read this the survey will have closed and processing of the responses will have begun in earnest. A quick glance at the responses shows
- Over 70% of you are interested or very interested in incorporating active learning strategies.
- Over 66% of you are not interested (or only slightly curious) in videotaping your course for peer review; over 60% are not interested (or only slightly curious) in even videotaping your course for self-assessment! (OK then!)
- In the category of professional development opportunities balancing teaching, scholarship and service stands out from the other choices by a noticeable margin: over 70% of you are interested or very interested.
- Over 50% express a lack of interest or only slight curiosity in leadership/administrative training.
In addition to processing the responses I will also post them to our ACTL site:
http://moodle.augustana.edu/course/view.php?id=538
for anyone that may be interested.
Finally, for those who also expressed an interest in helping organize and or present a workshop, special thanks; I'll be in touch (if you remembered to include your name!).
