2009 Season - Women's soccer shutout streak continues
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – For the third straight game the Augustana women’s soccer team blanked the opposition, this time defeating Greenville 6-0 on Tuesday, September 8 in Rock Island, Illinois. Five different Vikings scored and sophomore goalkeeper Kayla Radloff (West Chicago HS, West Chicago, Ill.) tallied another clean sheet as Augustana moved to 3-0 overall with the victory.
Sophomore Ashley Higuchi (Smoky Hill HS, Aurora, Colo.) scored at the 13:52 mark to put Augustana in front 1-0. Sophomore Erin Coulson (Naperville Neuqua Valley HS, Naperville, Ill.) scored her team leading third goal of the year on an assist from freshman Taylor Moesle (Carl Sandburg HS, Orland Park, Ill.) at the 23:40 mark to increase the edge to 2-0. The lead quickly grew to 3-0 when Moesle scored at 27:43 of the opening half. Sophomore Jessica Dodds (Linn-Mar HS, Marion, Iowa) tallied the final goal of the first stanza at the 31:24 mark and the Vikings took a commanding 4-0 advantage to the locker room. The Blue & Gold outshot Greenville 14-1 in the first half of action.
Augustana continued to control the action in the second half, outshooting the visitors 21-1 and adding a pair of goals from freshman Rachel Lenke (Prospect HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) to earn the 6-0 win. Sophomore Megan Mummert (Crawfordsville HS, Crawfordsville, Ind.) was credited with the assist on Lenke’s first goal at the 73:22 mark, and freshman Paige Knippenberg (University HS, Normal, Ill.) earned the assist on the final goal at the 88:44 mark.
Radloff made two saves and has not been scored on all season. Coulson attempted a team high seven shots on goal.
