2009-2010 Season - Vikings finish 10th at Illinois College Invite

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. – Sophomore Brittany Carr (Lincoln Way East HS, Frankfort, Ill.) turned in the top score for the Augustana women’s golf team on Saturday, September 5 at the Illinois College Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois.  Carr fired a round of 90 to lead the Vikings to a 10th place finish in the 17 team event.  Carr tied for 42nd place in the 103 player field.

Illinois Wesleyan won the team event with a score of 309, finishing 10 strokes ahead of William Woods University.  Washington University-St. Louis placed third at 328 and Quincy was fourth with a score of 336.  Carthage (336), Millikin (344), St. Ambrose (346), McKendree (348), and Grinnell (366) rounded out the top nine finishers ahead of Augustana.  The Vikings had a team score of 368 and placed ahead of Monmouth (388), Illinois College (392), Carl Sandburg CC (421), Knox (424), Lincoln CC (440), Benedictine (493), and MacMurray (DNF).

Lindsey Haines of Illinois Wesleyan and Hannah Buck shared the individual crown as each player shot a 74.  The second round was cancelled due to rain so there was no playoff between the two players.

Senior Katy Mascheri (Hersey HS, Mount Prospect, Ill.) finished second for the Vikings with a score of 92 and tied for 51st place.  Freshmen Megan Vandersee (Sterling HS, Sterling, Ill.) and Morgan Wilkinson (Westmont HS, Westmont, Ill.) tied for 57th place, each completing the round with 93 strokes.  Junior Jessica Berens (Schaumburg HS, Schaumburg, Ill.) rounded out the day for the Blue & Gold with a score of 97.  She finished tied for 72nd overall.
