2009 Season - Volleyball falls twice at Washington
ST. LOUIS, Missouri - The Augustana Vikings dropped a pair of matches in the opening round of the Washington University Volleyball Invitational on Friday, September 4 in St. Louis, Missouri. Second year head coach Janelle Hester's team fell to Millikin and 22nd ranked Hope.
Against Millikin the Vikings fell behind 0-2 after dropping the first two games by identical scored of 25-20. They rallied for a 25-18 win in game three and then tied the match with a 25-23 win in game four. The decisive fifth game went down to the wire before Millikin pulled out a 15-13 victory.
Hope, ranked 22nd in the latest NCAA Division III national poll, proved too strong in winning 3-0. The scores were 25-15; 25-15 and 25-20.
Augustana, which is still looking for its first match victory of the season, will play Webster at 12:15 today before facing Washington, the fifth ranked team in the country, at 2:30.
